As fascinating a medical case as Susannah's may be, it wasn't quite enough to carry us through. Tension builds without payoff, giving imbalanced character development that leaves confusion akin to the whirlwind misdiagnoses swirling. For all the talk of schizophrenia, the plot leaves us feeling the psych diagnosis should be for us rather than the sweet relief of anti-NMDA autoimmune encephalitis.
