This latest episode nails the absurdity of our idolatrous idealism...but doesn't quite land the plane anywhere as substantial as where it took off. Gerwig and the entire cast <i>ace</i> the question at the core of our own obsession with perfection and image. But where's the better focus of our worship, if not ourselves or societies gilded pedestal that beckons us? The best they can answer for the brokenness in our world is that death is somehow a beautiful, worthwhile goal in itself...rather than a side effect of our own self-worship and rejection of God's goodness.
