I picked this book up off a free shelf at work back when it came out, because I needed something to read home on the train, and, to be honest, I was smitten with the adorable cover. I read it in a day, and it stuck with me as something very special--I kept picturing how my pre-teen self would have related to it. Today, my 11 year old son stumbled upon it, and devoured it. He's got his first real crush, I think, on Stargirl. A charming story for any preteen or young teenager, it is a magical look at first love, but also at the value of marching to your own drum, and the challenge of loving those who choose to be square pegs in this round hole world. Highly recommended.
