To see a new world through the eyes of Jules Verne's heroes

I've always associated Jules Verne with adventure literature, which is mostly aimed at a teenage audience. The author's works in the modern world of fiction look very specific: sometimes quite naive and childish. But this feeling, as I understand it for myself, comes from the great scientific progress that has been advancing by leaps and bounds over the decades, opening up new knowledge for humanity. This inevitably leads to the fact that the fantastic stories proposed by Verne become absolutely impossible in today's realities.
However, that's also what Jules Verne is good at. His works provide an opportunity to immerse oneself in a world of adventures that is now far away in time, where people bravely strive to explore the unknown, and various complications in the form of politics, global conspiracies and other things are absent. This approach allows readers to fully concentrate on exploring new worlds.
"Journey to the Center of the Earth" is a great example of a novel with all the attributes that I described above. From the very beginning of the story, with the right adventurous attitude (and I always have one when Verne's work falls into my hands), the reader is immersed in a world where a mystery awaits him, which the main character finds. A quick collection, a short but eventful trip to Iceland, and then a search for the very place from where you can get to the center of the Earth.
Verne's writing is interesting and intense. It is easy to read, and each page leads the "viewers" into a world full of dangers. The author talks in detail about various things from a scientific point of view. Yes, a lot has changed in the knowledge of mankind today. That's why the novel looks somewhat childish. But we must not forget that at the time of writing, Verne was presenting his vision of the fantastic world of the work with the maximum scientific approach.
That's why it's so interesting to read. Jules puts a lot of emphasis on this or that phenomenon, creating a work as saturated with facts as possible.
The author gives a great atmosphere of enclosed spaces when his characters go to the mouth of a volcano. Verne famously conveys the danger of staying and constantly descending somewhere into the depths of an unknown world: silent and oppressive, with every meter the possibility of death hanging over the heroes more and more. At some point, along with the actors, you realize that people have gone so deep that they may simply not be able to get back out for a number of reasons, ranging from possible landslides to the banal lack of water and food. I've wondered many times if it was worth it. People are putting their lives on the line, descending into the abyss of the unknown, which can become their grave. But that's the joy of adventure, the obsession with new knowledge for the discoverers. They are willing to risk everything to push the boundaries of the known to unprecedented proportions.
The modern world is very complex. After all, we have completely forgotten what it means to be pioneers, we are beset by completely different questions and problems, where such moments rarely occur: the discovery of something new and unexplored. The world seems to be already open from a scientific point of view, and ordinary people live in it, choosing (or because of the impossibility of otherwise) everyday life: work, home, regular solutions to familiar problems. It is all the more interesting to immerse yourself in the world of the characters from Verne's book, who think in other categories, just as the author himself thought, creating a perfectly worked-out universe of his hollow world.
"Journey to the center of the Earth" has become a classic, and a long time ago. Readers of all ages, I am sure, will definitely be imbued with the ideas of Verne's world, which has opened up unexplored paths for us inside the planet. We are ready to forgive many assumptions (for example, the six—month supply of food that the three characters carry for months, while moving in difficult conditions under the surface of the planet), because the main thing in the work is to instill in people a craving for adventure, exploring the unknown, to give a whole novel, which will allow them to change their usual life to a completely different one. while your eyes are running over the lines that came out from the pen of Jules Verne.
8 out of 10
