You see… this is why I am not getting married🙅🏽‍♂️ Joke aside this was one hell of a horror movie that kept me on my toes and had arguably more intense body horror than The Substance. The motifs of companionship, codependency, and control were immensely interesting (& relatable) and I’m grateful that there were strategically placed comic reliefs or else I may not have been able to get through such a spine-chilling film. But I certainly do find myself in a difficult position to accept the “happy ending.” The film flips the negative connotations of codependency on its head to instead reach a peaceful resolution (albeit through supernatural means). It is throughly thought provoking, but in a way that feels wholly socially unacceptable, thus making the viewer feel uneasy and unnerving at the very same time.
