I'd had this book on my TBR for some time, so it was good to find out one of the library book clubs I've been going to picked it for the February discussion.

I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but I can respect the innovative way of looking at incarceration while not personally caring for it as someone who finds sports and "reality" tv boring. I also tend to skim over battle and one-on-one dueling/fighting in any books, so it wasn't a great start when I began reading this book.

That said, then, my favorite parts were during the Marches and their times in cities. I would've liked maybe more with the family members of the Links as I found that outside perspective really added to the story. What it all says about the people who support the whole system says a lot about society and how it's supported in reality.

Everyone on the inside making bank for the owners supporting it from the inside was the most sad for me. I kept hoping they'd all refuse. It's probably why I guess I found the final chapter anticlimactic. Trying to fix it once on the outside I don't think would be as effective.

Overall an interesting take on the prison system and the people involved with it.
