Rated Summer Knight 8/10

Into the breach again goes Harry Dresden, off to save another damsel in distress. Over the years I've read a lot of criticisms of this characteristic of Harry and in re-reading these books it can be irritating. That is, if you don't consider that while he makes it a point of mentioning his personality trait and kind of kicking himself about it, these "damsels in distress" aren't the only ones Harry nearly kills himself time and again to keep safe. Thinking it over, a majority of the characters of the series are overwhelmingly girls and women and most of them don't fall into the damself category or even necessarily the Good Guys Team. I think his male chauvinism is a distraction? misdirection? of what Butcher is actually saying/doing with the characters.

This book centered on faeries and faery politics which is always fun with their sly convolutions and deal-making. The end wasn't quite like I remembered it either! But speaking of misdirection, as Harry has mentioned a few times about his father, like a magician, there's always a proverbial rabbit he pulls out of a hat to surprise you and get the win over the villain. This one was a good one from a front you wouldn't expect taking down the Bad Guy. Or Bad Woman? :) Oh! And ending with some hilarious quotes is always going to make me happy.
