"You brush past so many people every day." "That was the closest we ever got..just 0.01 cm between us." Chungking Express is a film is about love. The film near the beginning has these quotes said by Ho Chi-Mo, one of the characters centered around the first story. His quote fits the theme of a fleeting love. We bump into/brush past so many people, and yet the closest we will ever get to a lot of them is 0.01 cm. When we do fall in love with someone, we sometimes develop habits because of them or we develop habits after we break up with them. The characters in this film fall into the habits in interesting and entertaining ways that make them feel unique. The way the characters also described love is also interesting and entertaining, such as describing love as an expiration date. the film has two stories and what's great about them is how they fit their time of day with the vibes they give off for that story. The night story is moody and secretive, while the morning one is silly and cheerful. The film's use of music really fits with the tones of each of these stories, and the songs stick in your head (weather via how good and catchy they are or by how many times they're played). Overall this film is really entertaining and fun to watch and it's my favorite Wong Kar-Wai film for just how fun and entertaining it is. 5/5 "Maybe it's the change of season, but lately I've changed a lot."
