Kinda think this is better than The Matrix simply because of the production & set design. Visually everything about this is amazing, the collage of city architecture (and noir film references) with the constantly flickering lights is very ominous, then the evil bald guys show up. Special effects are all great still - lots of miniatures and it's entirely shot on built sets. Postmodern story deconstructs just like the character's memories, very late 90s.
