Total bore - although a well constructed one, with a few exceptional sequences. There's just not enough tension to hold together the unnamed conflict, despite the great performance by Renate Reinsve. The theme is laid out explicitly in the opening, and then the movie spends the majority of it's remaining minutes running up the clock on lingering, wistful shots that don't really move it forward. What was even the point of Fanning's character? Or the affair? Or the self-indulgent detour into Netflix production jokes? Do you have to be Norwegian to make sense of the Nazi resistance references? You could cut any of that and it would neither improve nor ruin the film which is basically the problem, there are no stakes, just beautiful character studies.
