<insert witty joke referencing the Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" here> I'm always impressed by movies that can take a really simple idea and make it work... like, REALLY make it work. The Long Walk is just captivating from the moment it starts. Everything here almost feels poetic. The premise is straightforward, but has incredibly high stakes. And where many films would falter with such a plot, this one excels - the performances. The acting here is top-notch with relationships that are believable and moving, and sometimes difficult to watch in all the best ways. It's captivating, heart-breaking. and in some ways feels all too relevant.
