Rated Circe 10/10
This is a story of Circe (no kidding), the daughter of the Sun god. She is exactly the tale of the underdog, with no special gifts or any place among the gods. It is a pretty suspenseful book, where you will be quickly moving on to chapter after chapter to find out what she does next.
For anyone who has seen the movies or know the story of Odysseus, it is refreshing to see the other side of the story of his time when he was with Circe. One-sided stories usually fall flat with me, and I like to see the motivations of characters beyond just the obvious.
If you like mythology, or just a good story in general, this is a very good book. I love books like this. They take familiar stories that we all know pieces or version of, but the characters are more developed and maybe shown in a different light.
If you like the drama that goes on between Greek gods, and their offspring, pick this one up right away. The good news is if you like this one, the author Madeline Miller has another one you can quickly move on to. I'll be writing a review of her book The Song of Achilles shortly. Another great read.
