A beautiful film. I’ve heard a lot about this movie, mostly that it was a slow burn or “not much happens in the first hour”. I would agree with the former but the latter is bunk. This movie was way more engaging than I was lead to believe. It’s a movie about love and loss. It’s real life, with really life tragedy and real life stakes.  Cuarón continues to be the undisputed champ at the long take. The way he utilizes the camera in this makes you feel nostalgic for a time and place I’ve never been before. Again, just a beautiful film.
