I got this one on a Plex shuffle and was gonna move on to something I hadn’t seen before but I hesitated. Then I thought “Well I’ll just watch the opening.” Next thing I know the movie is almost over. Amazing how much this movie still feels like a breath of fresh air in the superhero movie landscape.  It’s mostly how evident it is that everyone involves cares about the character and believes in the source material (I think the latter is a quality that is diminishing more and more with the current MCU offerings). Are the ultra violence and the cuss language a little juvenile? Yes. But then so are Deadpool comics, which is the whole point. To exclude those qualities are to exclude what makes the character unique.  Does it all work? No. But it’s way more charming than I even remember. And it’s probably because I watched this right after <i>Love and Thunder, </i>which was generously weaker than the sum of its parts, it was surprising just how snappy and fun this movie was while balancing some pretty dark stuff.
