Rated Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical 8/10

I feel like this is something that I should just get used to but I just can’t. So I’ll say it again about this movie: Whatever bug-eyed corporate pod person decided that this movie should NOT have had a theatrical release should be launched into sun. This movie felt fresh and modern while managing to bring the movie musical back to its visual roots. It was like Burton blended with Fosse blended with 50s Disney live action stuff. Absolutely begging to be seen on the big screen. Shame on them. I just can’t get over that.  Cast is dynamite. Not a weak link to be found. The prosthetic stuff is a bit irksome but it feels like a nitpick when Thompson was so good. I find it kinda hard to believe they couldn’t find a single fat kid who could sing and dance tho. Well done all in all.
