Rated Roman Holiday 8/10

I really end up liking this movie more every time I watch it.  I think something really clever about it is how the film side steps, what I consider at least, the most tiresome part of the romance formula. You know, the part where all the secrets are revealed and someone has to be wounded and storm off and so on until the bug reunion at the end. By doing that in emphasizes the movies focus on the pure and fleeting love between these two people.  Roman Holiday, more than anything, is about two people pretending to be something they’re not and inadvertently finding something real together. The secrets can’t be revealed because if they are the dream ends. By the time the movie is over none of how they got there matters anyway. They just become two people in love who know they have to say goodbye. Great stuff.
