Rated Angel's Egg 8/10

Snuck in one more. Beautiful piece of art. Haunting, sad, mysterious and vulnerable. Don’t ask me what it was about. I knew this movie by reputation and I doubt anyone knows what it’s about. There’s plenty of animation out there that’s art of arts sake but it’s rarely this ambitious in scale. This is the kind of thing you see for about 15 minutes in an anthology film or something but they managed to get an hour out of it. Both to its credit and a bit to its detriment a lot of that run time is dead air. But I found this to be sort of interesting. Animation doesn’t have the luxury to be this meditative and that’s a shame because there’s some beautiful potential on display here. At its best this movie feels like an extended fever dream of a Fantasia segment by way of Bloodbourne. Not for everyone but I would say a must for anyone exploring what animation can be.
