This movie is not good. But... I only ever knew about this movie from reputation and memes going in and I still was not prepared for how hilarious the ending to this movie is. You can file this one under one of my favorite flavor of Cage movies: the ones where, either intentionally or not, Nic Cage is operating under a completely different idiom than the reality of the movie calls for. This made what seemed to be the not so secret motive of the movie a lot more fun. Here we have Cage playing, not just a cop, but a MOVIE COP. The kind of movie cop where, in any other movie, people either cooperate with or they get their skulls broke. He plays it to the hilt, running around demanding answers, yelling at anyone and everyone who doesn't pay him immediate respect and deference, waving his badge and gun around, just getting madder and madder that these women don't seem to be all that scared of him and it all culminates in him punching women in the face and roundhouse kicking 90 lbs girls into a wall. And to have none of it matter, to have none of it reward or save him in the least? I would be lying if I said it wasn't a little cathartic. Truly unhinged and terrible but everyone should watch it.
