Rated Perdido Street Station 8/10

I really, really wanted to like this. The world, a kind of ultra-capitalist grimy city, is wonderful. On the other hand, the plot, full of little coincidences that drive things forward, is kinda of hard to believe and the characters (particularly the protagonist) read as kind of cartoonish? I didn't manage to finish this.
