Rated Hedda 7/10

The queer twist in this adaptation made me both feel Hedda’s complexity as a character much more than Ibsen’s original version, and also see her cruelty as way more evil given how dead set she is on ruining Lovborg’s already complicated and diminished life as an academic, yet addicted (and therefore deeply flawed), woman in that era. Nevertheless, it didn’t change or augment the story’s impact much more for me.
