Steven Conrad once again shows himself to be a master story teller, with his usual brand of dark humour and existential absurdism. As with his other works, he offers a deep insight into depression in a very grounded way that especially appeals to Millenials. And of course, the "main plot" is a device that's used for exploring deeper parts of the psyche, and always takes a backseat to the latter. The main trio were fantastic, with a breakout performance by David Harbour. Jason Bateman brings back his singular character that seems to work for everything he's ever been in, and it certainly does for this show. And Linda Cardellini knocks it out of the park (pun intended) with her portrayal of the "poverty mindset". Ultimately this may not be the best thing Steven has made, but him and his fantastic crew are consistently making some of the most compelling television right now and I'll drop everything to watch anything they put out.
