Growing up in the late 80s/early 90s I genuinely thought Elton was one of the most objectionably dreadful musicians on the planet, until Almost Famous sent me down a rabbithole of his 70's stuff. How do artists fall so far, so hard? This is probably the best album of Americana not written by an American. Shit, no, wait, Neil Young's Canadian, isn't he?
