Rated Videodrome 0/10

⚠️ TORONTO MENTIONED ⚠️ imo they could have leaned into the hallucination thing a bit more and gone towards sci-fi type stuff but it ended mostly as gratuitous gore especially the grenade then the tumours then the organs exploding out of the TV I think a good body horror movie is one where the body horror is internally consistent in the universe of the movie. so like it makes sense for Max to inhabit all of the gore in his hallucinations as a reflection of him being infected by the videodrome (representing his internal perversion or whatever), but it doesn't make sense for what's his name Convex to turn into tumours after he got shot. also the grenade thing makes no sense given that the only weapons involved was the gun and it was all otherwise focused on organic bodily mutations and tumours and whatnot. or maybe I just don't get it also oh my god the special effect where the wind starts blowing in their faces I CANNOT take that seriously idk how they ever thought that looked good lmao but my favourite scene was the TV hallucinations where Nicki started turning into the TV and he made out with the screen, that looked pretty great for 80s special effects
