This review may contain spoilers. I dunno Lord Hidetora, if you didn’t want to lie in the bed, perhaps you shouldn’t have made it. Perhaps, and these are just suggestions, learn which of your three sons is trustworthy. Or have been a better father. Or don’t trade captured princesses around like pawns I’m just spitballing here but these seem like pretty simple gimme’s But for real this movie is insane, an epic that flies on by, amazing to look at and not just the compositions which. Like. Are as good as you’d expect, but the way it feels like they really up and did this!? like some of those guys for sure got trampled (but I guess it doesn’t really matter you can spare a few guys when you’ve apparently employed the entire country of Japan!?) and the way they like. Burnt a whole castle down!? And by god do they use colour. Everybody has a level of colour-coördination to rival Demy himself. Just the way the old king starts out with white as like, a theme and then the colour seems to bleach right out of his skin as he is confronted with the consequences of his actions until he straight-up looks like a, well. Like a ghost or a demon out of Noh theatre. Anyway I’ve never seen King Lear but I can’t imagine theres an adaptation out there better than this one I was hootin’ and hollerin’
