Ugh this is a tough one. I'm a sucker for that "moody boy who probably will die by suicide at the end" narrative but Jesus fuck the Christina Ricci worship in this film is a bit outrageous and says a lot about how the filmmaker feels about women. There were a few of these moments I really enjoyed, such as the impromptu tap dance scene in the bowling alley, but FUCK the simultaneous sexualization and infantilism that's rampant throughout the rest of the movie. The editing for this film is unreal; I'm a sucker for films that ooze style like this. That's about it. This would receive such a higher rating if it were made by someone who isn't obviously a gross piece of shit. **EDIT** YUP he's a trump supporter and is a self proclaimed "radical Republican." Might have something to do with the "traditional family values" on display in this film
