Rated Project Hail Mary 9/10

Now this is a damn movie. Big, beautiful, and visually stunning, worthy to see on the big screen and in Imax if possible. Gosling puts in an excellent performance, as does James Ortiz who manages to put so much life and personality into a faux-computerized voice of a bunch of rocks. Obviously the animators deserve accolades for that as well, incredible work by everyone involved. Huller is also a presence that really ties the movie together, and in many ways serves as the emotional heart of it. I did find her slightly distracting only because she bears a striking resemblance to Sarah Snook here and I kept going "but that's not Sarah Snook, there's no way....but it looks so much like her". This would not have been a problem if I had known the cast going in. This is probably the best big-budget sci fi movie that has come out in recent years, and I really cannot recommend it enough. Incredibly beautiful both visually and emotionally.
