Rated Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 10/10
This is not the singular, focused experience that is Fury Road, but it isn't meant to be. From looking at Wikipedia, this Furiosa prequel was supposed to be shot back-to-back with Fury Road (derailed by the studios not paying Miller's company what they were owed!), and Charlize Theron read an early version of it to help inform her performance. So why did they do this as a prequel, and not just film the two in chronological order? Because no one cared who Furiosa was until after the events of Fury Road. It's only after she brings change to the Wasteland that the people there - and the audiences here - care about her. To steal from zammy in the FilmCritHulk Discord, this film is the myth of Furiosa, as spread by the Wastelanders whose lives she changed. Oh, and the action is phenomenal, and the performances - Young Furiosa, Furiosa, and Dementus especially - are fantastic.
