This is a beautiful set of intertwined fables. It is shot exquisitely well, in ways that I'm sure were more difficult to pull off in the 50s than I can imagine. The core themes of "greed is bad" and "women suffer for the mistakes of men" are clear and eloquent without being overbearing. Good movie!
