Rated Night of the Demon 1/10

Nothing in this is bad, by any means, and it's absolutely great at doing what it's trying to do. Were I reviewing this professionally, attempting to give people insight into whether they might want to see it, I'd give it a much higher rating. It's just not the kind of story I connect with, which leaves me with no desire to revisit it in the future, so it gets half a star. I just wasn't ever moved by it. It's too flat for a religious horror, for me: play it up more, and I can get involved on a stylistic level, but that it wants to take itself so seriously (at least relatively speaking) is to its detriment for me. I just find satanism so inherently silly that any film that portrays it as anything else is going to have a hard time.
