Rated Long Day's Journey Into Night 1/10

There's a scene early in the film in which a passing train vibrates a table in such a way that a glass of water traverses it and tips off the edge. For whatever reason, this called to mind the ending of Stalker, but the film as a whole—or at least, its first half—more resembles Mirror with its complete lack of interest in making any sort of sense or giving any sort of clue as to the chronology of events. It shares, too, the dreamy, poetic quality of the Tarkovsky film. The second half is the big selling point, an hour-long 3D oner, which is further detached from everything preceding it. It's also incredibly dark, all the moreso with 3D glasses on, so its delusions that I would recognise cast members from the first half who have radically changed their appearances were...well, delusional. I'm left with no idea what happened, who was involved, or when any of it was. As a result, I care not one whit about any of it.
