Rated The Weather Man 9/10
The more I think about this movie the more I love it. It starts with David Spritz, depressed, divorced, oppressed. It ends with David Spritz, almost the same exact situation - still divorced, still kinda depressed, but with an archery hobby. He isn't a world pro at archery. He didn't win back his wife and kids. He got offered a million-dollar job that would require him to move, and he took it, and it is just as moderately fulfilling as his last job. He isn't actually a great guy. Doesn't have that much talent, people say his book is bad and it is. There is no big reveal of how everything will be okay. And the plot deadpans this, expects us to accept it as a victory, which it is in real-life terms but not in movie terms. It's brutal realism, a movie about a depressed guy who gets slightly less depressed, enough to keep on living, but not that much better. I love it.
