Rated Yellowface 10/10

taught me more about being asian american than i've learned by being asian american

other thoughts!
1. the more you hate a character the better the author did
2. i love that i was questioning everything the entire time
3. fourth wall who? we're not even in a room.
4. the way june's thoughts range from microaggression to halfway justifiable to everything in between every other page is beautifully done. "all racists are just evil" no babe they're people too and we need to know that to change things
5. so curious what the author thinks. i bet the rebecca-june translation was wild af. which parts of june's thoughts are rebecca's thoughts too? need an author interview
6. i love how only hearing june's perspective meant it was up to the reader to notice when something was racist. i love how that means different readers come out of it having noticed different amounts of racism. i would love to be in a room of all sorts of people after reading this and see how that goes.
7. ending on seven that's lucky or whatever. hashtag diaspora
