Rated Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close 4/10

I suspect that at some point along the line this was a great film. It's very difficult to put my finger on what actally went wrong. The set-up is good, the characters are likeable, the cast is convincing and it has a nice visual style. In the final third, however, you realise that nothing is being done with all this potential. They made you care about the characters...and then they didn't bother to finish their stories properly, or in some cases at all. A completely wasted opportunity. Don't get me wrong. This is worth a watch. It raises some interesting questions...just don't expect any interesting answers.
