My least favourite of the trilogy, mostly because of the shift in McCall's character. In the previous films, he was portrayed as a stoic, principled figure who used violence as a last resort. but this time around, it felt like he was revelling in the violence, which made it difficult to connect with him on the same level as before. Despite these reservations, I must admit that The Equalizer 3 still manages to serve a specific purpose. It's the kind of movie you'd consider for a casual Friday night in. What sets it apart, though, is its continued effort to avoid the common pitfall of dumbing down its narrative, and attempts to maintain a level of complexity in its storytelling. In the end, while it might not have reached the heights of its predecessors in the trilogy, The Equalizer 3 finds its niche as a serviceable option for those seeking a Friday night flick that balances action with a modest attempt at depth.
