Rated Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) 8/10

I feel like this movie is split a bit between trying way too hard to be a fun movie and just being a fun movie. The first half has tons of little movie trailer style pop-ups, lots of jokey narration from Harley Quinn, and is told completely out of order in a way that I found more distracting than anything. But when the movie drops the gimmicks, it's good fun, and a great change of pace from the typical superhero fare. It's genuinely funny and has lots of great action scenes, none of which involve a giant CGI monster. And at a lean 140 minutes, it's really all I can ask for from a superhero movie these days.
