Reviewed Eileen
I didn't love this one, which could have been due to high expectations. I liked My Year of Rest & Relaxation and Death in Her Hands both a lot
Eileen is rough. Her father is somewhat of a caricature of an alcoholic, and she's a hapless mess as a young adult who hates him but still drinks with him. The second half plot developments are OK, but there wasn't enough story overall for me
Eilleen plans of running away, it doesn't work out, here's a new chance... it's well written, but I couldn't care enough about Eileen, which I would guess may be the author's intent. Eileen is definitely antihero, and yet also very sympathetic, perhaps to a fault
