Rated Honey Don't! 5/10

I'm invested in the success of this Cohen/Cooke trilogy that started with Drive Away Dolls, a movie I found underrated. Much of the energy I appreciated in that film is present here, but I am getting a little tired of this Cohen trope of pulling the rug out from under you when it comes to plot contrivances. "You thought this character would have more significance? You fool!" In many ways, this feels like it's trying out the tricks used to great effect in something like Burn After Reading, but it's lacking the subtext, nuance, and atmosphere that made those screenplay techniques work in previous films. I also feel like Aubrey Plaza needs to be directed in a very specific way for very specific roles and this is not one that plays to her strengths.
