Rated Wicked: For Good 4/10

This is why the musical theatre kids were afraid of adapting Wicked. Even though it is a good musical, its second act is extremely underwhelming and the movie did not solve this issue at all. I was frustrated with Elphaba changing her mind every 2 seconds, the movie trying to convince me that the main cast has become really great friends during university, its uninspiring visualisation of whatever songs (and No Good Deed, because this song is a masterpiece) and romantic subplots that felt both rushed and slow at the very same time. It's a shame, cause I naively thought that this movie will make the second act's story more straightforward. Instead, they made me question why have I even bothered. Not to mention, that to viewers who aren't familiar with The Wizard of Oz, the inclusion of Dorothy just feels utterly confusing. And for those who do know it, the ending in which it turns out that the villains can be easily defeated with just four monkeys makes you question why noone thought of that before. In the end, all the finishing emotional moments that are supposed to close this epic two-part story and make you feel something, just make you glad that the movie is over.
