Beautifully well done. The story's strength arises when you consider it's historical context, set against the Cultural Revolution and informed by Chinese values. A timely undercurrent of the story is the role of elite nihilism and populist fervor in perpetuating the destructiveness of revolution, particularly the former who seek to convince the latter to burn everything down as punishment for society's sins & incorrect thought. The warning is apt, universal, & stark.
