Rated The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories 8/10

A very good, very sad set of short stories. While the genre and structure varies, the stories all are themed around loneliness, displacement, and lack of belonging, with their detached style echoing the theme. It includes the loneliness of Chinese immigrants in the U.S., Americans in Taiwan, nationalists in communist-controlled areas or vice versa, or (especially) of humans in the depths of space, as it is in three particularly powerful centerpiece stories about long-haul flights away from earth. Quite good but a pretty heavy.
