A real knockout of a novel. Orange uses the novel-of-linked-stories format to show a wide range of Indigenous experiences - mostly focusing on Cheyenne people living in and around Oakland whose lives converge in foreshadowed tragedy. The book is interested in the sociological and cultural picture of these people's lives but also in the particulars of their own experiences - their relationships, their struggles, how the mistakes they've made reverberate. Highly recommended, whether you're specifically seeking out Indigenous stories or whether you're a fan of multi-perspective novels like [b:A Visit from the Goon Squad|7331435|A Visit from the Goon Squad|Jennifer Egan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1356844046l/7331435._SX50_.jpg|8975330] or [b:The Imperfectionists|6834410|The Imperfectionists|Tom Rachman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1327935648l/6834410._SY75_.jpg|7045390].
