What a delight. Long but fast-reading, with rich, full characters and a well-thought-out world. The two mythical creatures of the title find themselves living in immigrant communities in turn-of-the-century New York, with dangerous magical and human consequences. A thoughtful and fun way to explore the disorientation of the immigrant experience.
