Rated The Handmaid’s Tale 10/10
This is the first Atwood book I've read but I totally fell in love with her writing - it manages to be simple and clear, but convey many levels of depth; her ability to draw out the world of her book by implication and subjective experience of her narrator is stunning. It manages to be really internal to the narrator's mind but visually vivid. The combination of the terrifying, plausibly-drawn dystopia and the careful, otherworldly tone makes the whole book really haunting and eerie.

The epilogue is clever and well-done but unnecessary - more a commentary on the book than a part of the book itself, IMO. Let the main narrative settle in for a little bit, then go back to the epilogue later, I'd suggest.
