Rated Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies 6/10

Incredibly long and repetitive of research details. Not a typical popular science book.

The main idea is that human population of Eurasian descent achieved World domination not through genetic predisposition or work ethics, but thanks to Eurasia's geography (easy terrain and trade), fauna (plants susceptible to domestication and rich in protein) and fauna (big mammals suitable for plowing and transportation, germs resistance). These factors alone were enough to increase productivity beyond that of hunter-gatherers and support denser societies with work specialization and central state, which led to technological progress and military superiority. All in all sounds very logical to me.

I wish these ideas were presented in third the size of the book.
