Rated Alien Resurrection 6/10

I've finally done it, I've watched all of the Alien movies. I went into this one expecting it to basically be a b-movie with a high budget, and I was not wrong. However, I didn't realize they gave this to the fucking <i>City of Lost Children </i>guy (!) at first, but after seeing the goofy characters and set pieces, it all made sense. This movie is <i>insane</i>. It's like they said fuck it, let's make an Alien movie that you can watch back to back with Buckaroo Banzai. It's full of dumb one-liners and ridiculous deaths. Ripley has angry drunk aunt energy. It's got Smeagle, Tuco, and Dan Hedaya in it. It's so stupid and it fucking slaps. This has changed my mind about the entire franchise. I much prefer this grimy stuff to the boring lore-fuckery of the prequels. Before, I kept wanting them to produce more prestige-level Alien films, but after seeing this, I think they should give the next film to <a href="https://letterboxd.com/director/charles-band-1/">Charles Band</a>.
