The polar opposite of a cliched romantic story and with a delicate/subtle touch. We all know the story we are all used to. Hell, Arthur says it outright in the movie. I think that's what makes this story great.  Life is messy, unplanned, and unpredictable. The emotions that go along with the messiness are not well defined. We don't get to tell someone else how to react. We don't get to force ourselves to not care. This movie addresses that emotional uncertainty.
