Why should I have any compassion for Riley in this story?  Her internal struggle (which Inside Out movies focus on) was basically her deciding to be a jerk or not.  I appreciated adding the new emotions. They all made sense. However they might as well have removed the original emotions entirely. They were barely even used for reactions.
