Rated Ghostbusters: Afterlife 4/10

Why was this movie made?  This is simply fan fiction.  While it respectfully honored the original with so many references, it was never its own thing. This was like an expansion pack on a video game instead of something remotely new.  Finn Wolfhard is completely wasted, being relegated to being a chauffeur. Carrie Coon is not as sympathetic as she should be, since her character’s daddy issues seemed imagined and felt more like holding a meaningless grudge.  Mckenna Grace (Phoebe) was a Mary Sue that was an expert at everything even mildly scientific. Then the coup de gras, there’s a character who has a podcast who is named Podcast.  That is some seriously lazy writing.  The movie had no rules so the Ghostbuster equipment can do anything the plot needs. The big bad, Gozer is defeated without much explanation.  There are no character arcs. Just reactions to new stimuli.  I now dislike this movie even more after writing this review.
