Rated Amadeus 9/10
So good. The dynamic between Mozart and Salieri is not a relationship we usually seem in film. Typically, it’s portrayed as personal ambition that creates conflict between two characters with the same goal. Instead we are treated to Salieri’s eventual discovery that despite his own skills, determination and experience, he will never match the highest tier where Mozart has been comfortably sitting all his life. My only criticism is that it could have been edited down and focused almost exclusively on Mozart/Salieri. Mozart’s relationship with his father was boring in comparison, a meme we have seen over and over. He wrote some good music as a result, but that required more Leopoldo than I would have liked.
