Rated The Perks of Being a Wallflower 8/10

Amazed at how much better this movie was than what I expected.  I expected some trite, cliched rites of passage, high school movie. Instead I got a layered analysis of how a damaged psyche works against our innate need for companionship. Ezra Miller showed me why he keeps getting acting opportunities despite his personal faults. He’s amazing in this film.  Emma Watson fought against her British accent in every one of her scenes but remained a delight.  Have to take some points away for some anachronistic music. While the movie certainly had some bangers, good luck figuring out what year everyone is in. Referring to David Bowie’s “Heroes” as “that tunnel song” was almost unforgivable.  The story unfolds in a patient, but determined manner. I audibly gasped during a key reveal.
